Day 10 - Kamloops to Clearwater

After a slow start to the day, recovering from our last two strenuous hikes and the longest single car journey of our holiday, we left Kamloops to continue our journey to the next main base. We'd be spending the next three nights at Clearwater - a small town just to the North, and at the southern tip of the Wells Gray Provincial Park.

Firstly we needed to fill up on fuel and get ourselves some breakfast, after which we joined the main highway north.

We'd forgotten just how hot the eastern part of British Columbia could be. The temperature was in the low to mid 30s, and with the skies being completely clear the sun was scorching. We were very grateful for the car's air con!

After a couple of hours we finally reached Clearwater and found our way to the hotel. After getting ourselves checked in, we headed to the nearby information centre to plan what we'd be doing for the next two days, having not planned anything in particular.

We also asked about places to eat and were recommended a place just up the road - a BBQ Smokehouse called the Hop n' Hog! After going there and gorging on far too much room we retreated to our hotel room for the evening.
