Day 7 - Campbell River to Whistler

Today we said our goodbyes to Campbell River, and to Vancouver Island as we returned to the mainland and began our journey east.

We awoke to pack up and head downstairs for breakfast. After loading up the car we set off back South to Nanaimo. A journey of a couple of hours.

After a short wait we drove aboard and waved goodbye to Vancouver Island. Becky had her first Poutine of the holiday (fries with cheese and gravy; a Canadian staple).

After food and a relax, we arrived back at Horseshoe Bay and continued to drive to Whistler along the infamously scenic Sky to Sea Highway. Today however was a bit of a cloudy day, so it wasn't quite as scenic as we remembered!

Eventually we arrived at Whistler - a very picturesque mountain village at the base of its namesake mountain and neighbouring Blackcomb mountain. It is a well known skiing resort and was also the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

We arrived at our hotel and checked in before heading out into the main village to peruse the shops. Finally we visited Becky's favourite restaurant 'The Keg' from our last visit and had the same meal too (Lobster and steak for Becky, BBQ Ribs for Jamie).

We then found our way back to the hotel and settled down for the night.
